Annual inflation in Egypt falls to 28.1% in May

  • Annual inflation in Egypt fell below 30% during last May, recording 27.4% for the entire republic and 28.1% in the cities, which is the lowest level since January 2023.

 

  • On a monthly basis, inflation decreased by 0.8% as a result of the decrease in prices of the cereals and bread group by -2.5%, the meat and poultry group by -4.6%, the fish and seafood group by -0.7%, the dairy, cheese and eggs group by -3.9%, the oils and fats group by -3.01. TP3T, Vegetables group -8.7%, Sugar and sugary foods group -0.6%, Other food products group -1.7%, Furniture, fixtures, carpets and other floor coverings group -0.2%.

 

  • He explained that this is despite the increase in the prices of the fruit group by 12.4%, the coffee, tea and cocoa group by 0.8%, the fabric group by 1.7%, the ready-made clothing group by 1.7%, the shoe group by 1.7%, the actual rent of housing group by 0.8%, and the smoking group by 1.7%. 0.3%, electricity, gas and other fuel materials combination by 0.6%.
