- The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics revealed a slowdown in the annual inflation rate in Egyptian cities to 25.7% in July 2024 compared to 27.5% during June, and urban inflation also declined on a monthly basis to 0.4% compared to 1.6%.
- The agency said in a statement today, Thursday, that the general consumer price index for the entire republic reached 226.7 points for July 2024, recording inflation of 0.5% for July 2024 compared to 1.8% for June 2024.
- The agency attributed the main reasons for this decline to the decrease in the prices of the grains and bread group by 1.4%, the meat and poultry group by 5.7%, the oils and fats group by 0.8%, the sugar and sugary foods group by 2.0%, the fabrics group by 0.4%, the ready-made clothing group by 0.3%, and the organized tourist trips group by 11.6%.
- In contrast, the prices of the vegetable group increased by 19.3%, the fruit group by 3.7%, the dairy, cheese and eggs group by 1.8%, mineral and carbonated waters and natural juices by 2.0%, and the tobacco group by 0.9%.
- The prices of the cleaning, repair and rental of clothing group also increased by 1.2%, the footwear group by 1.5%, the shoe repair group by 2.3%, the actual rent of housing group by 0.7%, the household appliances group by 1.6%, the glassware, tableware and household utensils group by 0.7%, the home and garden tools and equipment group by 1.7%, the goods and services group used in home maintenance by 1.2%.
- The prices of the outpatient services group also increased by 0.8%, the vehicle purchase group by 1.1%, the transportation services group by 1.5%, the ready-made meals group by 1.3%, the hotel services group by 1.7%, the personal care group by 1.2%, and the personal luggage group by 2.0%.
- According to the agency, the annual inflation rate for the entire republic recorded 25.2% in July 2024, compared to 27.1% in June.
