Non-governmental deposits in local currency in banks increased to 6.5 trillion pounds by the end of April 2024

  • Total non-governmental deposits in local currency at banks operating in the local market rose to EGP 6.505 trillion by the end of April 2024, compared to EGP 6.247 trillion by the end of December 2023, an increase of EGP 258 billion.

 

  • The Central Bank revealed in a recent report that the volume of demand deposits in local currency reached 1.329 trillion pounds by the end of last April, compared to 1.301 trillion pounds by the end of December 2023.

 

  • According to the Central Bank, the public business sector's share of these deposits amounted to 72.087 billion pounds, the private sector 802.132 billion, and the household sector 455.57 billion pounds by the end of April 2024.

 

  • The Central Bank revealed that the volume of time deposits and savings certificates in local currency reached about 5.175 trillion pounds by the end of last April, compared to 4.946 trillion pounds by the end of December 2023, noting that the public business sector acquired about 89.213 billion pounds of those deposits, the private sector 307.397 billion pounds, and the family sector 4.779 trillion pounds.
