The Central Bank of Egypt revealed that Egypt's external debt reached $155.204 billion by the end of September 2024, compared to $152.9 billion by the end of June 2024, and about $164.521 billion by the end of September 2023.
According to a report issued by the Central Bank, long-term external debt recorded about $127.538 billion by the end of September 2024, compared to $126.8 billion by the end of June 2024, and short-term debt recorded about $27.665 billion, compared to $26.024 billion.
He explained that the external debt balances owed by the government amounted to $80.374 billion by the end of last September, compared to $80.178 billion by the end of last June, while the volume of debts owed by the Central Bank amounted to about $35.019 billion, compared to $34.668 billion.
The balances of debts owed to banks amounted to about $20.740 billion by the end of September 2024, compared to $20.67 billion by the end of June 2024.
