The Prime Minister follows up on the mechanisms for implementing the recommendations of the Advisory Committee for Tourism Development.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly said that work is currently underway to follow up on the mechanisms for implementing what has been agreed upon with the relevant ministers and officials.
Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly held an expanded meeting today to follow up on the implementation mechanisms of the recommendations of the Advisory Committee for Tourism Development.
Madbouly emphasized that this expanded meeting will address a number of issues related to the tourism sector, which were raised by the Tourism Development Advisory Committee. He noted that several outcomes and recommendations were presented by the committee, and that work is currently underway to follow up on the implementation mechanisms agreed upon with the relevant ministers and officials.
The Prime Minister raised a number of issues, including reviewing the status of a number of fees and service charges collected from hotel and tourism establishments for the benefit of various ministries and relevant authorities. Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, presented in detail all aspects of fees related to tourism and hotel activity, including the definition of each fee, the party entitled to it from among the ministries and authorities, the minimum and maximum collection limits, the payment periodicity, and the opinion regarding reviewing each fee or service charge, noting that this step would alleviate some of the burdens to encourage the tourism sector to achieve the desired growth.
During the expanded meeting, Madbouly reviewed some of the demands of the members of the Advisory Committee for Tourism Development, which included facilitating the entry procedures for a number of international brands that tourists seek out and prefer in various malls. In this regard, it was agreed to form a working group headed by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, and including officials from the relevant ministries and authorities, with the aim of removing any obstacles facing this step and facilitating the required procedures.
The meeting also discussed the demands of the members of the Tourism Development Advisory Committee regarding the expansion of Marsa Alam Airport to accommodate the increasing number of tourists. The meeting reviewed the airport operator's plan for expansion and development work in the coming period.
Red Sea Governor Amr Hanafi called for the rapid opening of Berenice Airport, especially given its proximity to tourist destinations. Directives were issued to coordinate the matter between the Minister of Civil Aviation and the Governor.
