Minister of Housing: Total sales of "Beit Al Watan" to date amount to $10 billion.
Madbouly follows up with El-Sherbiny on a number of ministry files and the status of projects being implemented in a number of sectors.
Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting today with Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, to follow up on a number of the ministry's work files and the status of projects being implemented in a number of the ministry's sectors. The meeting was attended by Dr. Abdel Khaleq Ibrahim, Assistant Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities for Technical Affairs.
El-Sherbiny began his presentation at the meeting by highlighting the status of projects implemented and underway by the Ministry of Housing as part of the presidential "Decent Life" initiative to develop the Egyptian countryside, particularly with regard to the construction of water and sewage treatment plants and networks in the various targeted villages. He explained that 1,379 projects out of a total of 1,811 have been completed, with work underway on the remaining projects.
He also reviewed the executive procedures related to the master plan for the Pyramids area (Sphinx-Dahshur), and the meetings held with a number of experts in tourism planning and development to review the studies submitted by the consulting office for the development of this promising area.
The Minister of Housing went on to discuss the state's efforts to provide adequate and suitable housing for all segments of citizens, in implementation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives in this regard, thus contributing to achieving further sustainable development goals. He highlighted the measures and steps taken to implement the directive issued by His Excellency the President to offer 400,000 housing units, including medium, above-average and luxury units, as well as units for low-income individuals.
In the same context, El-Sherbiny indicated that reservations have been opened for the first offering, which includes 35,088 housing units (medium-above average) out of a total number of units exceeding 261,000 housing units for the “middle-income-above-average-luxury” housing axis, with the five offering phases to be completed during the coming periods until mid-2026. He noted that during the next few days, 115,000 housing units will be offered within the framework of the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians” for low- and middle-income people in a number of new cities across the country.
During the meeting, the Minister of Housing reviewed the status of the marketing of the ministry's units through real estate marketing companies, explaining that the number of projects being marketed amounts to 65, comprising approximately 75,500 housing units.
El-Sherbiny then went on to discuss the executive status of the "Beit Al Watan" initiative for Egyptian workers abroad, highlighting the procedures for launching the tenth phase of the initiative and the steps taken to increase the number of land plots to meet citizens' needs and the growing demand for housing. He noted that total sales from the "Beit Al Watan" initiative's phases have reached approximately $10 billion to date.
The Minister of Housing also addressed the status of the "Your Home in Egypt" initiative and the housing units offered in a number of projects, noting the high reservation rates for these units and the sales proceeds collected.
Al-Sherbiny addressed the special situation regarding the operation and management of public parks in Cairo. In light of this, a number of international experiences in managing public parks and developing the surrounding areas were reviewed, which is done by offering parks through a development project. He pointed out that there are a number of different models for offering parks in Cairo, including Azbakeya Park, Imbaba Park, and Fustat Park. He added that coordination has been made with a company specialized in organizing events to prepare a group of these events in the parks during the pre-operational period, until the company responsible for operation and management is appointed. A detailed operating manual has also been prepared to organize the management of the various activities.
In this context, the Minister of Housing reviewed some examples of investment activities in public parks, such as kiosks, recreational activities, cultural events, advertising spaces, and urban agriculture.
He also reviewed the implementation status of the components of the Fustat Gardens project, pointing out that the area of the investment zone in the garden amounts to approximately 140 thousand square meters, and consists of 12 restaurant buildings, 4 commercial malls, as well as 5 fountains, in addition to a theater, a celebration square, landscape, and 2 upper and lower parking lots. He also reviewed the situation of the adventure zone, which amounts to approximately 99 thousand square meters, and consists of a games area, 3 service buildings, a children's games building, a restroom building, and utilities and landscape works.
The Minister of Housing addressed the executive position of the hills (landscape) within the project, explaining its area, which is about 122 thousand square meters, and includes children's play areas, a seating and viewing area, and a celebration area, in addition to what is related to planting and landscaping of hill sites, and path lighting works. He also pointed out the area of the river area, which is about 131 thousand square meters, and consists of 3 stages for the river course, including settlements and isolation of the river course, as well as utility and landscape works on the river banks, as well as 3 restaurants.
He also pointed to the project's heritage gardens, explaining that they cover an area of approximately 203,000 square meters and include two visitor buildings, a service building, and three restaurant buildings. He also pointed to the museum's storage area, which covers approximately 9,000 square meters and consists of three halls at various levels, designed in a distinctive architectural style, for preserving and displaying antiquities.
The Minister of Housing also reviewed the situation of the markets area, noting that it is being built on an area of approximately 115 thousand square meters, and includes 13 craft market buildings (glass crafts), 6 hotel buildings, 6 fountains and landscape works. He also discussed the situation of the Kasbah area, which has an area of approximately 206 thousand square meters, and contains 4 restaurant buildings, 10 commercial and residential buildings, a cinema complex, an administrative building, a multi-use building and parking spaces.
